Shannon Fooks, MS, ATC, CSCS Bio: My name is Shannon Fooks and I have been working as the Head Athletic Trainer at Sidwell Friends since the fall 2007. I graduated from the University of Maryland with a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology in 2000 and earned a Master of Science degree in Athletic Training from Shenandoah University in 2004. My athletic training career started at NRH Regional Rehab as an exercise technician. I was an assistant athletic trainer at Holy Cross High School and the head athletic trainer at Montgomery College with the basketball and baseball programs. During summer 2004 and 2005, I worked with the Washington Freedom women’s soccer team. While at NRH, I became a certified strength and conditioning specialist. In 2015, I received a Master of Science degree in Sport Management from Canisius College. Goals for DCATA:
Previous Involvement Within DCATA: My
involvement has been minimal up to this point. My personal goal
this year is to become more involved with the DCATA and help and support
my fellow athletic trainers. |
Kevin Reilly, MAT, ATC Bio: Currently the Assistant Athletic Trainer at Gonzaga College High School, Kevin has been a certified ATC and NATA member for 8 years. He received his certification after graduating from James Madison University (BS). He went on to complete a 2-year Graduate Assistantship at East Carolina University while obtaining a Masters in Arts in Teaching (MAT) in 2014. Since ECU, Kevin has filled outreach positions through hospitals in New York and Maryland with additional responsibilities in post rehabilitation services and insurance billing within outpatient physical therapy. Goals for DCATA: My goal is to help DCATA reach more people both in membership and our professional network. I’m excited that licensure is close to the final stages of being approved in legislature, but I’d love to develop plans past licensure, including developing plans for reimbursement for Athletic Training services. Previous Involvement Within DCATA: Up to this point I have only been a member of
DCATA. I’ve recently been able to refocus professional goals which
includes becoming more involved with DCATA and NATA. I enjoy diving right in
and learning quickly so I’m optimistic I can help DCATA however we need.
